Ethiopian opposition parties formed a new political party. The new political party, Ginbot 7: Movement for Justice, Freedom and Democracy, founders may be many but the core group consists of Dr Berhanu Nega and Ato Andargachew Tsege.
It is yet to be seen how effective this new political party will be in advancing the cause of democracy and freedom.
The Meles Zenawi government is actively emulating the governance structure of the Chinese government. This new governance structure affectionately called 'developmental state' by the Ethiopian government. It has become more and more clear that the Meles Zenawi government does not believe at all that the Ethiopian people are capable of governing themseleves.
In the face of such government, the new political party has a stiff hill to climb. It is incumbent on this party to forthwith getting into the business of garnering support both from inside and outside.
